Session 4: Understanding Risk & Decision-Making (Safeti Concepts)
Greenstat, in partnership with DNV, is pleased to continue the Hydrogen Safety & Risk Assessment Webinar Series 2026 – an eight-part programme running from July to October 2026, designed to build awareness and understanding of process safety, consequence modelling, risk assessment, and hydrogen safety across academia, industry, and government.
This session introduces participants to the fundamentals of risk assessment and how risk-based thinking, supported by DNV's Safeti software, informs critical safety decisions. Building on the consequence modelling concepts from the previous session, it clarifies the essential distinction between consequence and risk, and demonstrates how combining likelihood and severity enables more informed, defensible decision-making across energy and hydrogen infrastructure projects.
The session will explore how risk results are interpreted, compared against acceptance criteria, and used to prioritize mitigation measures – equipping participants to understand how safety decisions are made in practice.
